About us
My name is Debora Reis and I am a Paediatric Occupational Therapist based in London and the lead OT here at the Independent Child Co.
I founded ‘The Independent Child Co’ in May 2020 to pursue a dream, that started following voluntary work in Brazil, Cambodia and India, of supporting families from all around the world by helping children to achieve their maximum independence.
Paediatrics has always been my passion and Occupational Therapy was the best path to pursue this.
Upon completing university, I exposed myself to different learning experiences, which included international placements, voluntary work abroad and training courses. Since moving to London, I have prioritised working in different teams, settings and services which has been key to my professional development.
I have 8 years experience working as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist with several years in London, working in the NHS, Special Schools and Social Services which provides me with a wealth of knowledge and experience to assess and provide interventions for children with varied diagnosis.
I completed a Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy in Portugal, a Postgraduate in Sensory Integration Module 1 (Ulster University) and a Postgraduate in Neuropsychology. Due to my role I regularly complete workplace training in areas such as safeguarding, moving and handling, specialist equipment, and delivery of varied assessments.
